Fine, then read it in the mayor's press release. This also talks about 50 police in outer London, not just in SE London.

This does not match up with James's earlier statement '50 extra transport police for SE London'. The Evening Standard is just getting it's information from a local government press release.

I would like to understand who is the real liar, and why either James or the Mayor's office have not seen fit to correct the mistake that one of them has clearly made.

The 50 extra police will not be just for SE London as you said in your post. According to the Evening Standard they will be for all of outer London.

We do have significantly more train services in South East London than any other part of the capital, so hopefully we will get most of them. Any ideas on the real numbers planned for South East London?

Your problem in Britain is that you value the rights of criminals over those of victims and future victims. In Western civilizations, we need to harden ourselves to the plight of the criminal as our forefathers did. Anyone convicted of robbery or murder should be executed. Other violent criminals should be harshly punished. We need to wield punishment against criminals with an iron will. Jail them or execute them, and forget about them. We will be a safer and stronger civilization because of it.

I would prefer to see police on the streets rather than assisting 'revenue protection officers' from the railway companies, which is all they seem to do whenever I see them at local stations or Waterloo East.

I am sure they will not be on the trains I take, even the beggars have given up trying to get through the trains during rush hour, they are just too busy. These days we need other emergency services on the trains - paramedics to help all the people collapsing from standing in squashed conditions, and the fire brigade to prise people out of the trains at their destinations.

However, I am pleased to hear that even Boris is effected by the train delays in the cold weather.

The highlight of the whole occasion was undoubtedly seeing Councillor Colin Bloom's Usain Bolt-like sprint down the platform when he realised that he was standing on the wrong part of the platform when waiting for Boris to alight from the train!

Talk about eagerness in being the first to shake Boris's hand - Beatle-mania had nothing on this!

But top stuff for staying the course, it was jolly parky there!
