Boys school, rugby club, army and then a career in publishing. Is it any wonder that I swear more than I should?
I'm not proud of it or happy about it, but at least I can see that I'm in f***ing good company.

The Boris Guide to Drugs
Great to see him leading the way !
Surely with responsibility for young people you should be setting an example.
I know you went to a rough private school but in my South London boys comprehensive school they taught us to speak politely and not swear routinely, especially when addressing the chairman of a select committee.
You might say you're not proud of swearing but you seem to think it is funny. What example does this set to young people? And straight after a post about London Youth AGM - did you hear any of them swearing or was it just you?
I swear very rarely, and almost never did when I was young.
One year a few of us decided to have a swear box, the profits paid for cinema tickets, burgers etc. It soon became clear that I was getting a free ride and friends got a bit resentful, so I had to do my share of swearing to up my contribution.
Our swear box had actually made me swear more!
Jimmy,
Being a swivel eyed Trotskyite,I wouldn't normally be rushing to James Cleverly's defence, but your comment makes you sound like a rather pompous plonker. I'm sure he doesn't swear at his granny or at London Youth AGM.
beat him up by all means if he deserves it, I'd join in, but you make us all look like humourless, pompous kn*bh**ds with comments like this
