New Met Commisioner

Nothing stays secret for long when the Met are involved. I didn't know who was the new Commissioner until I saw it on Sky News, but having seen the news I now know it is Sir Paul Stephenson.

Sir Hugh Orde is an excellent police officer and I'm sure would have made a very good Commissioner but having worked with Sir Paul over the last 9 months I am pleased that he has been confirmed in the role.

I look forward to working with him in the forthcoming years.

Two things, James.

1."Nothing stays secret for long when the Met are involved". Hardly surprising when politicians actively groom people to leak information, is it?

2. Kit Malthouse, Deputy Mayor for Policing said:

"I am pleased that we have a Commissioner who the Mayor, Home Secretary, Prime Minister and the Metropolitan Police Authority can stand four-square behind”.

Read into that what you will. Sounds like Kit's very happy and sees himself and the other politicins as the puppeteer. Shame the politicians didn't pick a strong and independently minded Chief Officer who would have remained politically independent and given any politician who stuck his beak in a bloody nose. Bring back Sir John Stevens!

Never has a truer word been spoken, Excalibur. Notice how since Stephenson became Acting Commissionser he has simply been Boris's marionette, jumping to whatever Boris demands. Disgraceful.
