morning after pill on the night before

I was rather disturbed to hear that BPAS (formerly the pregnancy advisory service) is urging women to stock up on the morning after pill because pharmacies and GP surgeries will be closed after Christmas.

I don't think that I'm being either out of touch or stuffy in saying that this is outrageous. Young people get drunk at this time of year, some of them will no doubt have sex. I would advise moderation in both, I would also strongly advise the use of a condom.

The implicit acceptance of unsafe sex that dishing out morning after pill conveys, is very wrong. And that this organisation get government money even more so.

There is more at stake with unprotected sex than unwanted pregnancies. Have fun, but stay safe.

I can understand your reservations but I don't see why you are getting your knickers in a twist over it.

If you read their press release it seems perfectly reasonable, especially when you consider that there is no such thing as 100% guaranteed safe sex.

"Holiday opening hours make it harder for women to access their usual contraceptive supplies and they also leave women vulnerable to unintended pregnancy if a condom splits, they forget to take a pill, or they have unprotected sex. Emergency hormonal contraception (the ‘morning after pill’), is 90% more effective at preventing pregnancy if taken in the first 12 hours after unprotected sex. "

Are you seriously saying that they should not be able to advertise their services, encourage sensible and safe use of contraceptives, or receive government funding?

Jimmy, you really are an idiot and a troll aren't you.

Responsibility should be the watchword. Be sensible, clever and intelligent enough to make the right decisions.

As a taxpayer and a Christian I'm not happy that I'm funding this sort of organisation against my will.

The morning after pill might have saved the world from us getting jimmy though. We'll never know if the milkman wanted to take precautions.
