LabourHome, bonkers, the lot of them!

LabourHome - bonkersI pop across to LabourHome every now and then to see what the Labour online massive are chatting about. Every time I do I'm reminded just how obsessed they are with the Conservatives, just how blinkered they can be and just how paranoid they are.

There is a post on the home page at the moment entreating left of centre bloggers not to link to right of centre blogs. It is a must read. It gives a quick search engine optimisation lesson and then descends into a bit of a paranoid rant about how the left were being suckered by the Machiavellian Tories who are milking them for their Google juice as part of our attempt to trick the country into voting for us. Classic stuff.

I don't link to left wing blogs very much, to be honest I don't link to other blogs all that often at all, but I am more than happy to link to this one. Read it and weep, with laughter.

You might have read it, but you clearly don't understand it (or chose to misrepresent it). We're laughing at you!

OK - I've read the article. I think your shooting yourself in the foot. The article may be disingenuous, or it may be based on simple ignorance. The socialists left make far better use of the 'internet/blogosphere', have more credible sites. The Tories are strengthened by the divisions that exist on the socialist left, even though there is a common understanding that New Labour are 'Thacherite'.

Well, I was amused, particularly by the comments section. These gems in particular (I paraphrase):

'Tory blog traffic is high because of all the links from Labour blogs' - yeah right...

'Left wing blogs are serious sources of information but evil Tory blogs are full of trivia and gossip, so why do people read them?' This from the so called political wing of the British people.

And BANNING links to us, BOYCOTTING our blogs - not content with nannying the public, they even love telling each other what to do.

I visit Labour Home quite often (thus raising their traffic), because it reminds me of my days on Waltham Forest Council in the nineties.

labourparty you are a psycho. I've never considered voting for your hateful nonsense. Even when I was a mildly leftie toker.
OK don't link to counter-revolutionary blogs, please continue dreaming that you do live in the totalitarian state that you crave. We'll continue to spread freedom of thought/action through the internet and carry on kicking your collective asses in elections.

The Labour movement assume that the right-o-sphere is a consequence of a masterfully co-ordinated effort to unseat the Labour government. What they can't understand is that righties tend to just blog about what they are thinking about at that moment rather than some carefully crafted "message" from on high.

How do they square this weird assumption with the fact that many "Tory" blogs spend a lot of time criticising the Tory Party?

Ah! Well done, Blue Eyes. That is exactly what I have found, and as a newbie in this is what I have also been doing.

It is very interesting that there is a perception amongst at least some Labour-supporting folk (and yes, there are still a few left!) that we are being co-ordinated and masterminded somehow.

I for one rarely use official party material in anything I write, and cannot recall doing so without other input as well to balance it, whereas Labour people mostly (though thankfully not universally) come across as if they were.

That accords with my own experiences elsewhere, by the way; and leads me to suspect that they are judging us by their own standards, not realising what true freedom of expression is really all about, as Lefties never but never do.
