Very many congratulations James from all your team in Beckenham.

Bravo James. A most deserved victory.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the size of your majority. Could your 58,000 majority be the biggest in British political history? No MP would be able to boast of a bigger win.

Good luck. And tell Kwasi Kwarteng (who, I gather, didn't get in on the North East list) to get to Henley for the by-election.

He would make a great candidate. Get Boris to recommend him.

James - I met you at a Chinese restaurant after one of Guido's parties, and at the time I thought you'd make a fantastic elected official. Although not a Tory, I am delighted that you have been returned with such a huge majority, and look forward to having someone of such obvious integrity and character in the GLA.

Good luck in your new job!

Please update the description of this blog:

The personal blog of James Cleverly, Conservative London Assembly candidate for Bexley and Bromley

What complete rubbish. You are not a candidate anymore, you are a member!

Congratulations James and well done to all your team. Now the real hard work starts!

Please keep up the blogging and give us an insight into how the GLA works - something which "ornery" voters have lacked in previous terms.

The majority was even better than you thought - 75000!

The 58% refers to percentage of Boris's majority that the 120000 votes in Bexley-Bromley represents.

James's share of the vote was the second highest in London by a fraction of apercentage from West Central.
