Everyone knows that the US televisual media is Democrat leaning but more specifically there has been a long history of casting black actors in the role of tough but principled leaders.
From the cigar chewing cops in the 1970's through to David Palmer (Dennis Haysbert) in 24 and Tom Beck (Morgan Freeman) in the film Deep Impact. America has been gently prepared for a black president for years.
Based on US media output, you might think it not worth trying to become a judge unless you're black. Or Fred Thompson.

But is he any good? I find it quite worrying when you say"America has been gently prepared for a black president for years." it sounds like the voters have no say,Think about what you said then consider no films with a female prez.
Fred Thompson is reported to have said 'the primaries are not a beauty contest'. Which is just as well when you've got a face like Fred's.
Blogger's comment thing is going crazy again. I don't like leaving anonymous comments.
Commander in Chief (a West Wing wannabe with a female president) got cancelled after once season . . .
James,
It was interesting that the Iowa results actually have shown that the American media can no longer directly influence the public on its choice of candidate. The new journalism in terms of blogging etc has partly propelled Obama to the forefront of the Democratic race
The media in general may be Democrat leaning but the news channels are overwhelmingly Republican. Of course the one person the news channels and republicans really hate and it looks like Hilary's campaign is already doomed after years of attacks by the media on the Clintons.

Funny that it takes a Canadian to know US history.
