As ex-military myself, James, I find this disheartening and sobering. I had a friend on active duty in Northern Ireland and I was there myself in 91, when the peace train was nobbled. I was in Newry two hours after a border post was bombed.
I can say the young lads were more than brave but they were extremely nervous, with fingers near the trigger the whole time. Trouble was, the enemy didn't operate that way.
I shall never forgive Adams and his murderous Fenians.
