I can't believe that so much newspaper space (and online coverage) has been given over to Miliband's non standing as Labour leader.Let us look at sequence of events. Firstly Miliband says that he will not stand, then in a shock move he confirms that he will not stand. Press speculation increases, fueled by a leak from a close political ally that he has no intention of standing. The whole debate was then blown open when Miliband himself said that he wasn't going to stand.
When Miliband said that he was going to support Gordon Brown and not stand many media pundits read it as a coded message that he was going to take on Gordon Brown and stand for leadership of the Labour party. Miliband denied this and confirmed, once again, that he was not going to stand.
For goodness sake the guy isn't going to stand! Go and find some real news.

I guess Brown and Miliband have had their own "Granita moment" - was it at Desperado's?
I wouldn't be surprised if Miliband was orchestrating the media coverage himself to boost his over inflated Blairesque ego.
You sure ? Wait for the locals if they implode then he will stand. His standing or not was a code for discussing the political shape of the Labour Party.
As you very well know ...I should think
I think that Miliband is too smart to want the leadership at this point.
Whoever gets it (if it isn't Brown) will have to put up with sniping and scheming from the doer one for years to come. If you thought that Heath was bad with Thatcher just wait for a spurned Brown on the back benches.
Secondly who would want to take over the helm of the Titanic just before it hits the iceberg? Miliband knows that Labour are going to get a good kicking at the polls over the next couple of years.
Why put yourself through that when there is someone chomping at the bit to be in the firing line?
