More cuts at Lewisham Hospital?

I have it on good authority that the threat of further cuts hangs over Lewisham Hospital.

Local Conservatives highlighted the first tranche of closures in early 2005 and it seems as though the knife keeps getting stuck in! It now seems that there are plans to make dramatic cuts to the A&E capability of Lewisham, the knock on effect of this will affect a large part of SE London.

Labour keep harping on about increased spending on the NHS yet once again we see front line cuts. David Cameron has made the NHS a key part of Conservative plans, I just hope that there is some form of NHS left by the time we get back in government.

With Labour's scorched earth policy, there's not a lot that's going to be in place, come 2009.

We could all say "on good authority", be more precise! Local people are already worried about the future of their hospital, scare mongering to gain political sway is a no-no.

Yes we can all say "on good authority" but when I said it last time I was proven to be correct.

I'm not trying to scare people I'm just highlighting more health cuts under Labour.

Will you be on the frontline wearing the "keep the NHS public" T-shirt?
Tell us how it will be any better under the Conservatives?

James,
regardless of party politics, I think that further cuts at Lewisham hospital (and also cuts/changes in local GP services that I have heard about) are very bad for the local community. Are you aware of any ways of protesting against these changes? If so I'd very much appreciate you posting some details.

Thanks

Ben
